Introducing Luxury Redefined at The Peninsula Chicago

June 24, 2015
The Peninsula Chicago celebrated the opening of The Terrace and the summer season in grand style with an event filled with incredible entertainment, dining and first looks of the newly enhanced guest rooms as well as a private pre-party in partnership with DEPARTURES magazine. During the exclusive DEPARTURES event, ‎Executive Managing Editor, Deb Frank, joined Vice-President, Marketing of The Peninsula Hotels, Mr. Rob Cheng and Regional Vice President and General Manager of The Peninsula Chicago, Ms. Maria Zec, to offer platinum card members the very first look at the renovated rooms. DEPARTURES guests explored the enhanced rooms and enjoyed a celebration in Avenues Ballroom.

Nearly 900 guests, media, and friends of The Peninsula Chicago, including the DEPARTURES guests, were invited to experience a party that was truly “urban chic.” All guests were offered tours of the new rooms where they would meet Bill Rooney, the designer of the new guest room. Attendees mingled throughout The Lobby, The Bar, the Grand Ballroom pre-function space and The Terrace, all adorned in urban chic décor with dazzling entertainment.

Décor throughout the hotel varied in an east-meets-west fashion where incredible lighting and visual displays accentuated the style and the #LuxuryRedefined hashtag for guests to share their experiences during the party.

In The Lobby, dancers on high-flying poles sailed through the room in whimsical dresses among bright décor, balloons and umbrellas. Entertainment in The Lobby included an electric harpist and guitarist, performing behind Nathan Road-inspired frames. Guests dined on Thai and Chinese specialties throughout The Lobby and posed in glamorous style at the step-and-repeat.

The entertainment continued throughout the hotel including Cabaret Nights in The Bar, live art exhibition from Jorge del Busto and high-flying action outside on The Terrace where stunts from skateboarders and BMX riders on a half-pipe thrilled party goers. Cocktail tables made of bicycle wheels, graffiti painted sneaker centerpieces and whimsical party bites served on skateboards all added to the urban chic feel of the evening in an al fresco environment. Guests enjoyed a live band and DJ, entertainers strolling through the party in themed costumes, delectable food stations and passed bites.

As the evening winded down, The Peninsula Chicago thanked guests for joining in the celebration and hoped attendees will experience a newly renovated guest room soon!
