Celebrating Chicago in Classic Peninsula Style
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, one of North America’s five ‘Great Lakes’, Chicago is a thrilling destination for business and leisure travellers, and is revered for its pioneering architecture.
In celebration of the Windy City and The Peninsula Chicago’s new residential-style rooms and ongoing art initiatives, The Peninsula Hotels have commissioned urban photography artist William Furniss to create a new series of photography inspired by Chicago’s rich architectural landscape. Art aficionados and casual observers alike will be intrigued by Furniss’s abstract renditions of the city’s heritage and modern icons, including The Wrigley Building and Skywalk, Bridge House on the DuSable Bridge, and the 50-feet-high Picasso sculpture.
From November 1 to 25, these thought-provoking images will be exhibited at each Peninsula hotel as part of a global campaign that will also include our chefs’ distinctive take on classic Chicago dishes and drinks.
This initiative comes as part of The Peninsula Hotels’ support of innovative public art initiatives, with The Peninsula Chicago also exhibiting a site-specific art installation, entitled ‘Alchemy’, by Korean artist Choi Jeong Hwa. The striking installation features 24 six-foot-high “totem pole” pillars comprised of LED lights, plastic bowls and steel.
